How does two-factor authentication work?

For added security, you can protect your ComeUp account with two-factor authentication (2FA). It’s much more than a simple identification, it's about making sure you are who you say you are. So, in the event someone were to steal your password, they would need to go through the second layer of authentication to access your account. As such, your data is better protected.

How do I turn 2FA on and off?

Go to the Security page in your account settings. You will find step-by-step instructions on how to enable two-factor authentication. If you want to disable it, you can do so via the same page.

If you are a seller, before activating 2FA on your account, make sure that all your personal details on ComeUp are correct. We will use those details to verify your account should you lose access to it.

How does 2FA work?

When logging in to your account or doing anything on the website that may be deemed data-sensitive, you will be asked for a 2FA code. This code is generated by whichever authentication app you prefer, such as Authy (recommended) or Google Authenticator. Simply enter the temporary code displayed to access your account. Above all, make sure you don’t lose access to the authentication app on your device!

What do I do if the code is wrong?

When your authenticator app gives you a code, remember that it is only temporary: you only have a few seconds to use it on ComeUp. If the code doesn’t work, just start afresh with a new one. If it still doesn’t work after multiple attempts, check that you are using the correct code.

I can’t access the 2FA app, how can I authenticate myself?

Two-factor authentication relies entirely on having access to this second factor – in this case, the code generated by your 2FA app. If you no longer have access to this app for whatever reason, the only way to have authenticated access to ComeUp is to disable 2FA for your account. To do so, please contact us via the Help Center with a scan or photo of your identity document. Please note: if the details provided on your ComeUp account do not match those on your ID, we will not be able to disable 2FA. Given the sensitive nature of the security processes involved, this measure can only be used in exceptional circumstances.
