How can I make the most of ComeUp Direct as a seller?

ComeUp Direct is a built-in tool that enables you to make audio and video calls and share screens directly through the chat box. It is available when a buyer places an order or asks a question. Please remember that all communications outside ComeUp are prohibited (more information is available here). This restriction is there to protect you, first and foremost. In the event of a dispute, we will only consider what was discussed on ComeUp.

What kind of seller can benefit from ComeUp Direct?

You must have signed up for the ComeUp Plus Premium or Standard plan to be able to call a buyer. If you don't have this plan, and you want to call a buyer to discuss a proposal or a project, you cannot do so. You'll have to communicate in writing.

If you have a ComeUp Plus plan and don't want to offer ComeUp Direct to your buyers, you can fully disable this feature via this page. That means buyers won't see that you can call them.

❗️Warning: Not all browsers are compatible with ComeUp Direct. Check if yours is here.

How does it work?

You are the one to make the call directly via the chat box. You can do so either when a buyer has asked a question or when an order is in progress. You can make a call as long as the chat feature is available.

Once you have started the call and the buyer has answered, you will have access to an interface where you can enable or disable your microphone, webcam, and screen sharing.

All conversations are encrypted and are not recorded. However, as a seller, we strongly recommend you summarize the discussion in the chat box to avoid any issues. This is especially important to ensure the order has been fully understood (for example, order specifications). By doing so, you will also be able to defend yourself should a dispute arise.

How and when to use ComeUp Direct effectively

Please note that it's not because you can now make audio and video calls that you have to every time your buyer asks you to. It's not a magic solution either — it can waste your time, particularly when orders have a low price tag. As such, you need to use it properly and in keeping with what you want to offer.

→  I don't want to offer ComeUp Direct to my buyers: That's not an issue, simply disable it via this page

I only want to offer ComeUp Direct to certain buyers or at certain times: No worries, you can agree to call a buyer only if they have placed an order with a specific option or one of the more expensive options. You can also refuse to call a buyer during the pre-order phase. You're the boss. You decide. If you refuse to call, just remember to explain why to your buyer. You can simply tell them that you don't have the time to do so or that it's not part of their order.

→  I want to offer ComeUp Direct to everyone all the time: That's great, but remember that time is money. Time spent with each buyer is time that should be paid. You can't work for free.

→  Remember: Calls are no replacement for written instructions or project specifications. What is in writing will prevail if there is an issue with a buyer. Therefore, don't be sparing. Write down what is important for the order in the chat box.
